The groundbreaking ceremony for the power supply system under the mechanical and electrical turnkey projects for Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System Construction Project (hereinafter referred to as the Project) was officially held at the Bulk Supply Substations (BSS) of Chingpu Depot, Jhongli City, Taoyuan County at 14:30 on October 1st, 2010. In the ceremony, 弘中真五, Project Manager of Hitachi Company, officially declared the launch of the project on behalf of five contractor companies. Mr. JU, Hsu (朱旭), Director General of the BOHSR, MOTC, was invited to make a speech. 鈴木學, President of Hitachi Corporation, 小牧亨本, Director of Hitachi Corporation, guests from Marubeni Corporation, and many others attended the ceremony, praying for a safe and smooth process from the beginning to the end of the project. Then, the Power Supply Engineering Team officially declared to start the field work, symbolizing that the Airport Access MRT System is going into another peak construction phase.
This power supply project, a sub-system of the electromechanical turnkey projects, is awarded to Japanese Hitachi Corporation. Its main architecture consists of three Bulk Supply Substations (BSS) to draw the 161kV high voltage power supply from Taiwan Power Company, and to transmit the electricity to the DC Traction Substations (TSS) and station service substations by means of the 22 kV distribution network. The scope of mechanical and electrical turnkey project includes the design, manufacturing, procurement, construction, installation, warranty, training, systems assurance and technical support for all related subsystems (including Rolling Stock, Power Supply, Signalling & Train Control, Communications, SCADA, Depot Maintenance Equipments & Facilities , Platform Screen Door, and Trackwork, etc.)
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the guests were guided by the contractors to see their design diagrams and related documents, and then to take a tour around the Chingpu Depot to look at the facilities. In conclusion, Director General JU expressed his thanks to the engineering team for their sustained efforts and made a wish that the first-phase construction (from Sanchong Station to Jhongli Station) will begin its service in June 2013 and the entire line (from Taipei Main Station to Jhongli Station) will be ready for operation in October 2014.
